7.5mm Thickness
Our 7.5mm hybrid range is the largest single collection we stock, and for most Melbourne homes it is the practical answer to a floor that has to survive real life. Hybrid flooring puts a rigid core between a printed decor layer and an attached acoustic backing, which gives you a board that is genuinely waterproof, quiet underfoot and stable enough to run through an entire ground floor without expansion joints every few metres.
At 7.5mm, these boards sit in the sweet spot. They are thick enough to feel solid and to bridge minor imperfections in a subfloor, but still thin enough to install over existing tiles without creating a step at every doorway. That matters in renovations, where lifting old tile beds is often the single most expensive line on a quote.
Where 7.5mm hybrid works best
Kitchens, laundries, hallways and open-plan living areas are the obvious candidates. Because the core does not swell when it gets wet, a dishwasher leak or a dog bowl tipped over is a mopping job rather than a replacement job. We also install a lot of it in rental properties and apartments, where the combination of scratch resistance and a low-fuss finish keeps maintenance costs down between tenancies.
Colours and finishes
The range runs from pale, almost-white boards such as Alabaster, Linen and Porcelain through to cool greys like Pewter, Graphite and Millstone, and on to warmer stone and timber tones including Limestone, Flagstone, Red Rock and Natural Spotted Gum. Because the decor layer is printed, hybrid gives you access to looks that would be expensive or unstable in solid timber.
Installation and underfloor heating
Every board in this range clicks together as a floating floor. It is compatible with hydronic and electric underfloor heating when the system is commissioned properly, and it can go directly over concrete, existing tiles, or a levelled timber subfloor. We check subfloor moisture and flatness before quoting, because that is where most hybrid floor failures start.
