7mm Thickness

7mm hybrid flooring is the entry point into our waterproof range, and it is the option we most often recommend when the budget matters but the floor still has to hold up. The construction is the same as our thicker hybrid boards — a rigid waterproof core, a printed decor layer, a transparent wear layer and an attached acoustic backing — just in a slightly slimmer profile.
That slimmer profile has a practical advantage. Over existing tiles or a level concrete slab, a 7mm board keeps the finished floor height low, which means less trimming of doors and a cleaner transition into wet areas that keep their tiles.
Who this range suits
We install 7mm hybrid regularly in investment properties, unit refurbishments, and homes being prepared for sale. It gives a consistent, contemporary timber look across the whole floor plan for a fraction of what engineered timber costs, and it does not need sanding, sealing or curing time on site — you can walk on it the same day.
The colour range
Canadian Warm Oak and Natural Oak cover the warm mid-tones that suit most Melbourne interiors. Carbon Oak and Grey Shadow Oak sit at the cooler, more contemporary end, while Weathered Spotted Gum brings an Australian species look without the price of hardwood. Natural Blackbutt bridges both ranges.
What to expect on site
7mm hybrid is a floating floor, which means it is not glued or nailed down. It expands and contracts as a single sheet, so we leave the correct perimeter gap and cover it with skirting or scotia. Subfloor flatness matters more at this thickness than at 9mm, so we always check and, where needed, level before installation. Underfloor heating is fine, as are kitchens and laundries.
