Prestige

Prestige is our upper-tier European Oak collection. The construction is the same engineered format we use throughout — genuine oak over a multi-ply substrate — but the wear layer is thicker, the boards are longer and wider, and the surface treatments are more involved: deeper wire brushing, layered stains, and matte coatings that let the grain show rather than sitting on top of it.
The practical benefit of a thicker wear layer is time. A Prestige floor can be sanded and recoated once or twice during its life, which turns a twenty-year floor into a forty-year floor. If you are building or renovating a home you intend to keep, that changes the maths considerably.
The look
Prestige colours are built up rather than printed, so the tone shifts slightly as you move around the room and the light changes. Straw and similar warm neutrals suit north-facing living areas; cooler greys and smoked tones hold their character in rooms that get less direct light. Because the boards are long, a Prestige floor has fewer end joins, which reads as calmer underfoot.
Subfloor and installation
Prestige is normally direct-stuck to a properly prepared concrete slab or installed over a levelled and moisture-tested timber subfloor. We measure slab moisture before quoting — skipping that step is the single most common cause of engineered timber failures in Melbourne. Acoustic underlay is available for apartments with strata acoustic requirements, and the range is compatible with hydronic and electric underfloor heating.
Living with it
Sweep or vacuum on a hard-floor setting, damp mop with a pH-neutral cleaner, and keep felt pads under everything that moves. Avoid steam mops entirely. Sunlight will gently shift the tone of any timber floor over years, so keep rugs moving occasionally rather than leaving them in one spot.
